Stunning #rcrealbride Cynthia was married to Tom in a custom altered Caleche gown in ‘Madeline’. Breath taking and charming was their country wedding in Yarra Valley, Victoria.

THE FIRST SIGHT

Tom and I met in the living room of two of our very good friends, Katie and Tom. He lived in Sydney, and was visiting Melbourne for the weekend for a concert with his mate Tom, whilst Katie and I had planned a girls’ dinner that night. The four of us all found ourselves together at Katie and Tom’s place beforehand, and ended up losing track of time chatting over drinks before we realised we were late and rushed off to our respective evening plans!

THE PROPOSAL

Tom and I love visiting wineries together, and they have become quite an integral part of our relationship. We were living in Sydney, and had a weekend planned in the Hunter Valley. Tom organised a special wine tour for the two of us, and after a morning of wine tastings we sat down to a picnic lunch overlooking the beautiful vineyards of the Hunter Valley. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee asking the ultimate question!

THE VENUE

We knew we wanted to get married at a winery, and had chosen Victoria’s Yarra Valley to be close-ish to family (we had also recently moved to Melbourne ourselves). Stones was always up there on my list, but it wasn’t until we visited the venue with my parents that the decision was made for us. The location was so breathtaking that in that moment, we all knew we’d found the right place.

THE FAVOURITE MOMENT

The whole day exceeded both of our expectations so much, this seems impossible to answer! One thing we do consistently look back on is just how amazing every single speech was on the night. There’s something incredibly humbling and emotional about having your favourite people stand up in front of a room and speak so beautifully about yourself, your partner, and your relationship. Every speech was a highlight in its own right.

THE DRESS

The dress was exactly what I was looking for! When I came into Raffaele Cuica looking for gowns, I knew what I was after, I just wanted to make sure the style actually suited me. The minute I tried the dress on, it felt amazing, and looked even better! But I immediately felt torn because I had my heart set on a dress with long sleeves, and wasn’t sure I’d find a perfect combination of both. Then I found out that Caleche would happily design anything additional for any of their dresses to fit with your vision, and after receiving a sketch back of the design of my dress (in record time), I knew that was it! It was the second dress I’d tried on, and I had no doubt that it was ‘the one.’ My favourite feature was the intricate detail on the bodice and how well it fit me – I was honestly so comfortable all day.

FINDING THE ONE

It was fantastic! From coordinating the sketches and designs from Caleche in Adelaide, all the way through to my dress alterations before the day and helping me decide whether I should wear a veil or not. The whole experience was really great, and all the staff were super helpful.

ADVICE FOR OTHER BRIDES

If you’re thinking about getting dance lessons ahead of the big day, absolutely go for it. We weren’t sure if we were going to but we’re so happy we did. In the weeks and days leading up to the day, things can get really hectic and it’s easy to feel stressed, frustrated, and overwhelmed. Having a dedicated hour or two each week where you’re concentrating entirely on your partner and learning some (very basic, in our case) dance moves was so much fun. We laughed like crazy and got to forget about absolutely everything else – then on the big night we had an awesome first dance!
